    Any thoughts about Arahants?

    Dear friends,

What are your personal thoughts about Arahants?

    Here are two articles:

From the Learn Religions website: "What is an Arhat or Arahant in Buddhism?"

    https://www.learnreligions.com/arhat-or-arahant-449673

From Bhikkhu Bodhi: "Arahants, Bodhisattvas, and Buddhas."

    https://www.accesstoinsight.org/lib/...hisattvas.html

    - from the suttas : SN 22.76 The Perfected Ones:

    https://suttacentral.net/sn22.76/en/sujato

    - and from the Dhammapada V11:The Arahant or Perfected One:

Arahants is a good discussion topic because it brings to the table many aspects of our understanding of the teachings. For me, what I learned is that Arahants are permanently at peace no matter what and cannot be blamed for any harm. There's no passion in them, only pure wisdom.

I've talked to and been very grateful to received advice from some amazing teachers over the years since I first discovered Buddhism - but I don't know if any of them were arahants. I don't know how one is supposed to recognise an arahant!

I don’t think a arahant would identify themselves as a arahant. I think I would have difficulty believing anyone who identified themselves as such. Do I think there are arahants? Sure.
