Today I was reflecting about the morning Zazen. I realized that among the many things that happen in mind and body during Zazen there is a kind of cooling down the six sense bases; this is, during Zazen and while looking at the wall the eye sense base cools down, while stilling the body with the Zazen posture the touch sense base cools down; the same happens with the ear with the silent environment as well as the taste. When the body cools down, the mind starts to cool itself so feelings quench and when feelings quench craving quenches and clinging vanishes... and all the heap of suffering quenches too.
