    Question on Our Final Destination

I have a question on "final destination" as it were. Can someone explain or give article link to Buddhist teaching compared to what follows (as I currently understand). BTW - I'm not trying to teach this, but I do have to explain it to understand how this differs from Buddhism and for help how if differs.

I believe in a "Parent Spirit" that we all come from. We have always been part of the Spirit Parent, but we are given existence in this world with a separate consciousness. We are given a worldly mind to interact in this world, which in reality does not truly exist. The Truth we seek is inside our Spirit calling out to us. This world is used in conjunction with our mind to create our illusion reality. We remain in this worldly realm until we unveil our Heart (Spirit) and let the Truth come forth. We are then able to be born into Eternity as a Spirit Being.

I.E. as the man Jesus said, "We must be born of water and of Spirit to enter into Eternity. I see being born of water as being born from our worldly mother as Buddha was. I see being born of Spirit as opening up our Spirit and becoming Truth. Then our Spirit is born into Eternity (Reality). I see this as Buddha achieving Nirvana.

Now I realize the wording is quite different, but how is this different than the teachings of Buddhism? Correct me if I am wrong, which I probably am , but I see that Buddhism does not believe in a "Parent Spirit" and that we are more or less energy that changes and can vanish. So can this energy go into Nirvana, Hell or simply vanish? I'm trying to understand and get a grasp on where a being or energy ends up when all is complete, if ever?

Thank you for any article suggestions or comments in advance. I realize I'm a pain in the rear asking all these things, and I apologize, but that's just me :)

    Tuxedo:

This forum within Buddhism Without Boundaries has the title "Discovering Buddha's Teachings". Your post has nothing to do with this at all.

You have expounded your understanding of consciousness deriving from a Parent Spirit, you talk of being born into eternity as a spirit being, and you quote Jesus.

Nothing you have said has any connection with the teachings of the Buddha.

Your first step might need to be to do some investigation of Buddhism properly, before asking any more questions. Look at the sticky threads listed at the start of the contents of this forum "Discovering Buddha's Teachings". Read and try to understand the fundamentals for yourself. You might choose to begin with 'An Outline of Buddhism'. It's a link to a very clear and readable article .

You'll find no references to spirit beings or eternity. You ask "So can this energy go into Nirvana, Hell or simply vanish?" - but that question is quite meaningless to a Buddhist.

It might be helpful for you to acquire some understanding of what is meant by Nirvana (Mahayana), or Nibbana (Theravada). Take a look at our thread We-Need-to-Talk-about-Nibbana in the Theravada forum. There you will find a link to an excellent video, by the abbot of a Theravada Buddhist monastery.

We hope to help beginners to Buddhism get a better understanding of the Buddha's teachings - and therefore its best for them not to try and unite unfounded ideas with a well established and respected tradition that has passed the test of time.

The original Buddhist teachings say the arising of consciousness depends on sense organs & sense objects (MN 38), mind-body (SN 12.67; SN 22.82) and other aggregates (SN 22.53). In other words, there is no consciousness independent of the other constituents of life.

Nirvana is an external sense object consciousness experiences. When consciousness ceases to exist, Nirvana continues to exist.

Hell merely refers to unpleasant feelings. It is not a material place below the earth or similar.
I have seen, bhikkhus, the hell named ‘Contact’s Sixfold Base.’ There whatever form one sees with the eye is undesirable, never desirable; unlovely, never lovely; disagreeable, never agreeable. Whatever sound one hears with the ear … Whatever odour one smells with the nose … Whatever taste one savours with the tongue … Whatever tactile object one feels with the body … Whatever mental phenomenon one cognizes with the mind is undesirable, never desirable; unlovely, never lovely; disagreeable, never agreeable.

Hi Tuxedo, is there a Heaven? Most Buddhists would answer I do not know. Have you ever met the king who gave you an option to stay or return?
