    A thought on Zazen

Zazen is the Dharma of peace and joy; it has brought me inner peace, calmness, silence and joy; also a still and an even tempered mind. I am happy about this. Life is much more enjoyable and at ease than ever before; trees, mountains, clouds and sky shine as if they were intensely coloured.

Thank you Esho for your reflections! These kinds of reflections (and practicing) inspire more confidence in me in the triple gem than reading.

    .... It’s all right here....

These words are my daily reflection. Are my reminder that you don’t have to go looking for anything. It should always be there.

Thank you Esho for your words on Zazen.

It is good to hear you have found peace and equanimity in practice.

    You are an inspiration.

Is this thread only for Esho's thoughts about Zazen?
    Or can anyone comment?

Sorry, don't want to be rude and just takeover his thread.

    Hi Av,

I don't think she'll mind if you also want to express some positive thoughts about Zazen yourself.

    Positive thoughts??

Have always had difficulty with Zazen.
Shikantaza, where one is not focused upon anything, is very difficult for me.
So, I tend to stay with watching breath in and out at the nose
And since my mind works by words or inner dialogue, there seems to be a constant talk or commentary.

It has taken me quite a while to be able to focus or concentrate on breath.
    And quiet the thoughts.
I find that attention taken away from thoughts will help cease the narrative.
Still have moments of following thoughts.
Some times there is a struggle between sitting or not sitting

    Benefits of Zazen?
There is a certain amount of control gained over emotions
And, a new view point about how to look at life

    Down side?
The time and effort needed to maintain this mindfulness
Cause once laxs, it takes more time to get back to where one might have been
If that is at all possible??

I am not so close to the peace and joy that Esho enjoys
I still struggle. But, would not want to give it up entirely.
