A poem, trying to capture the experience of meditation, feedback invited

    Forgetting

    The day
    noisy and peopled
    a tsunami of traffic

    the sky
    bleached by the sun
    fades into purple velvet

    The curtains
    a familiar barricade

    The room
    Jumbled and cluttered

    The lightbulb
    goes out

    The candle
    is lit

    the flame
    is animated

    the mind
    is focused

    the breath
    is rhythmic

    thoughts
    flickering with the flame

    the flame
    dancing
    its coloured
    cacaphony

    and underneath
    a thought tsunami

    and underneath
    a megaphone of stillness
    a deafening nothing
    until at last
    the mind stops

    no words
    the eyes look
    watching

    then being

    and everything
    is forgotten

    and at the end
    the beginning

I enjoyed reading your poem, Kate. You describe the transition from bustle to stillness really well. Thanks!
