    Buddha statuette

    Hi

I was looking for a small statuette of Buddha. I generally practice with open eyes and came across this very peaceful looking statue, which I think looks so calm it would help my focus. The only thing is it's over 2 foot tall and is meant for a garden. As I live in a Coronation Street-type house (i.e. small!) I was looking for the same but about 6 inches tall :-)
Does anyone know where I might find this or something similar?

    Thanks,
    Lorcán.

    Hi Lorcan,

The FWBO (now Triratna) used to have a shop called "Evolution" in the UK (which closed down a few years ago)where I got a small one (7 inches) very like the one in the photo. I think they're copies of a Japanese statue.

If there are any Buddhist centres near you, it might be worth checking to see if they sell statues.

Also, if there's a PDSA (animal charity) shop near you, it might also be worth checking there. There's a PDSA charity shop in London which gets Buddha statues of different sizes in regularly and someone said to me that they get them from a warehouse. ....so if you have one near to you it might be worth asking if they ever get any at their shop.

Other than that maybe try the internet, or put a nice clear image in a frame?

    With metta,

    Aloka

    Thanks Aloka.
The framing is a good idea!

I have the exact same bronze statuette. I purchased it from an online store out of Japan. With a quick search I found this:

I don't know if they've got 'TK Maxx' stores in Ireland, but I got 2 lovely statues from there, one Chinese style and one Thai.

Isn't this the one with the interesting story of the snails on the Buddha's head? Or were they curls? This goes through some of the arguments: http://sdhammika.blogspot.co.uk/2009...dhas-hail.html
