SN 43.2 : Serenity and Insight

Today I thought I'd post this short sutta and invite you to share your comments about it:

Saṃyutta Nikāya 43 2. Serenity and Insight

“Bhikkhus, I will teach you the unconditioned and the path leading to the unconditioned. Listen to that….

“And what, bhikkhus, is the unconditioned? The destruction of lust, the destruction of hatred, the destruction of delusion: this is called the unconditioned.

“And what, bhikkhus, is the path leading to the unconditioned? Serenity and insight: this is called the path leading to the unconditioned….”

This Sutta is part of a series, the contents of which are then collected together at SN 43.12. (The whole of SN 43 mentions these contents over and over again.)

Bhikkhus, I will teach you the unconditioned and the path leading to the unconditioned. Listen to that….

Each one calls for careful exploration: their differences, their interrelationships, & their uses, all centered on the Four Truths.

I think it means we should practice Samadhi and Insight and this will lead to Nibbanna.
