    Hi

    Hello

I'm a teacher and what we, in England, call a Head of Year, which basically means that I help to look after the welfare of some of our most difficult children. I work in a busy secondary school, so trying to stick to precepts, etc., is difficult, sometimes, to say the least.

I wouldn't describe myself as a Buddhist quite yet but I've been trying to, um, "walk" the path for a while, and I find it not only fascinating but rewarding too; it's certainly made a difference to my life. It's time, though, I think, to try to link up with other people and talk through stuff. I've only really read books so far, and I feel the need to join a like-minded community.

Looking forward to some interesting and useful discussions.

    Alan

    Hi Alan,

Lovely to meet you, I'm a qualified secondary school teacher myself - but that's another story!

I hope you'll enjoy being a member of our community here and thank you for introducing yourself.

    With kind wishes,

    Aloka

Hello and welcome alan. I am new to this forum as well. I feel that i am similar in the way that i have only been taught Buddhism thru books, and internet. Im not sure about u. But with me i also feel that this type of learning alone isnt enough. And may lead to misunderstandings. Im hoping that this site can help that.
    good luck on ur journey.
