Thread: How was your week ?

I really hope things go well for you, Ron, you're very brave!

I'm still struggling along with shoulder and lower back problems in the heatwave we've been having here lately. When it gets into the low to mid 30's I get heat exhaustion and my aches and pains worsen.

Goodness knows how people are coping in countries where temperatures have been/are in the high 40's. There are so many wildfires around the world too, even as far north as the Arctic Circle - and I've seen news items about the seriousness of climate change on both BBC and Sky TV news channels lately. (Though I guess that's a topic for our environment forum!)

Keep us posted about your consultations and surgery.

    Hi, Aloka.

Aches, pains, medical interventions, fires, floods, Earth quakes, asteroid strikes, Global Warming, Global Cooling (ice ages), and eventual consumption by our sun as it uses up its hydrogen fuel allowing for its fusion reaction allowing it to go Red Giant are all part of this samsaric universe in which we live. All this and worse are to be expected.

So, ....I guess the answer to it all is study, meditate, and chop wood, or cut grass, which I find better than walking meditation.

    Hi Ron,

The cost of water is much the same here in the UK. They charge us once for supplying the water, and charge again for taking it away through the sewer. Good idea to install irrigation to save some of your water cost.

Along with the rest of us here, I hope your heart surgery next week goes as planned and works out well for you. Don't forget -no cutting the grass for a good few weeks afterwards! But please keep in touch.

Thanks for the thoughts and warm regards, Gene.

Had final meeting with surgical staff yesterday. Surgery next Tuesday, August 21rst, 2018. Heading out to cut the grass for the last time before surgery now. This is how I do my walking meditations. _/\_Ron

    HI Ron,
I will also keep you in my meditative prayers..... I recall how nervous I felt before I had exploratory surgery. The Doctors did not know what they would find when they did exploratory surgery to look at my heart valve arteries. I turned out that I had blocked arteries... they did angioplasty... the doctor told me I was a walking time bomb.. I got therapy and support.... that was seven years ago.

Whatever you are feeling, I sense that you are in good hands with your medical team. And we are all keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

    Kind regards Ron.

    Gene

    Hi Ron,

By the time you read this, the surgery will be behind you and you're on the road to recovery. You know that you are in our thoughts and we all wish you well.

You'll soon be walking on grass again. My very best wishes to you.

    Woodscooter.

Woodscooter, Aloka, Genecanuck , et Al:

To quote famous lines from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein: "It's Alive!"

Made it through surgery and am currently walking on the green side of the lawn.

No worries, so far, other than a significant improvement in my breathing, and pretty much an elimination of the oxygen debt I was experiencing when climbing stairs.

One of the two veins used to insert a pacemaker and visual probe experienced minor damage and is displaying somewhat wide bruising on my left thigh area due to having been placed on a blood thinner to prevent blood clots.

Other than that, my main hindrance is having to avoid doing things forbidden by my ridiculously limiting physical restrictions imposed by the surgeon and currently enforced by my overly vigilant wife, who, unfortunately is all too well aware of how devious and sneaky I can be.

Able to slowly walk up and down stairs, take short, but frequent walks, depoopulate our back yard, rinse and wash dishes in the sink, dress / undress, perform all manner of personal hygiene and kitchen tasks, but cannot lift more than 10 lbs, or 22 kgs until released from my surgeon. (Bummer!)

The problem I have with this is I am the son of an Olympic Weight Lifter and grew up routinely lifting > 300 lbs. Since my arms weigh more than 20 lbs each, and my legs more than 50 lbs each this means I can't scratch my nose, brush my teeth, eat breakfast, sip tea/ coffee, or walk to answer the doorbell without violating this medical restriction. So, my wife is going to have to do all that for me, while I sit back and meditate for the next six weeks.
