Hello all.

I found a copy of "The Teachings of Buddha (http://www.bdkamerica.org/default.aspx?MPID=53)" that Bukkyo Dendo Kyokai (http://www.bdkamerica.org/default.aspx?MPID=52) distributes in a hotel and read it. I thought most of it was pretty good, so I got Glenn Wallis's "Basic Teachings of the Buddha" (http://www.amazon.ca/Basic-Teachings-Buddha-Glenn-Wallis/dp/0812975235/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1363125456&sr=8-1) and "Dhammapada: Verses on the Way (http://www.amazon.ca/The-Dhammapada-Verses-Way-Buddha/dp/0812977270/ref=pd_sim_b_1)", then "The Buddha and his Teachings (http://www.buddhanet.net/pdf_file/buddha-teachingsurw6.pdf)" by Narada, and "Buddha-Dharma: The Way to Enlightenment (http://www.uhpress.hawaii.edu/p-4501-9781886439207.aspx)" also from Bukkyo Dendo Kyokai. I am not entirely certain if I would call myself a Buddhist, nor am I certain if my own interpretation of the texts is "correct", but I still like what I have read so far. (I am an atheist, and generally hold materialistic views, which I have read are in direct opposition to Buddha's teachings, but which I think are the core of Buddha's teaching. As a really hardcore anti-spiritualist, anti-theist, pro-knowledge, pro-education, etc, etc type of person, I really respect Buddha's words and am quite happy to have discovered them.)

About myself - I am 27 years old, originally from Florida (http://www.destination360.com/north-america/us/florida/images/s/things-to-do-in-florida.jpg), and immigrated (emigrated?) to western Canada (http://www.flubu.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Meanwhile_in_Canada.jpg) and am now somehow a citizen of most of the Western world (I married a filthy European!). I have been married 7 years, and have 2 cats. I work nights and mostly just read for fun. I am, I believe the term is, "boring".

I look forward to participating in this forum.
