Hi,

I'm not sure how to go about entering a link for a book I may be talking about in a posting. Can you tell me how to do this? Thank you.

Aasha,

if you type a link into your post, starting with http://, the forum software will format it into a clickable link when the post is posted or previewed. It's as easy as that.

To save you typing and to assure accuracy, you could go to the web page that has the book, then select and copy from the address line near the top of the browser page.

Then, in your post, paste where you want that link to appear.

Hope that helps. Please reply here if you want more detail.

Hi Woodscooter,

I've noticed in lots of postings that certain words are highlighted which when clicked on leads to a webpage on certain sites e.g. flicker.com or something else. I'm not sure how to do this. I understand how to enter a web address alright, as you've shown above, but its just the highlighted, word links I don't know how to do?

OkeyDokey, I'll explain how to do that.

You need to be editing in the advanced edit window. If you see the Quick Reply window at the bottom of most pages, you would need to click on "Go Advanced" to get there.

Now look for the hyperlink icon http://www.buddhismwithoutboundaries.com/images/editor/createlink.png and click on it.

That brings up a little window that asks you for the link, so that's where you type or paste the full link address, beginning http:// . Click OK.

Now you will see the wording of your link inserted into your post. The wording is highlighted at this time. Press 'Delete' to remove the highlighted wording, because it is just repeating the link address.

All you have to do is type 'here' or 'access to insight' or whatever wording you want to be clickable, between the ] and [/ marks.

Before submitting the post, the link looks like [ URL="your link"] your wording [ /URL] and if necessary you can edit any of this until it previews the way you want it.

That's clear to me, but if it's not clear enough to you, please say so and I'll go into more detail.

WS.
